I. Why does extrusion granulation require 2%–4%?

Extrusion granulation is a dry forming process. Its principle is to force powdered materials through die channels using mechanical extrusion, forming granules under high pressure. No water is added, no heating is required, and no subsequent drying is needed during the entire process; therefore, there are strict limitations on the feed moisture content.

Moisture content below 2%: The material is too dry, lacking necessary lubrication and binding force between particles, resulting in loose and brittle particles after extrusion, and a decreased molding rate.
